Ben’s Apartment

TIt is said that a home is an expression of your mind and your soul. A home becomes a very intimate space or your sanctum where you celebrate your life with your loved ones. The design language was established between the client’s idea of a calm yet refreshing spot to relax and rejuvenate. Being an entrepreneur, and a father, striking a balance between business and family, Ben approached us to remodel their generic developer-finished 180 sq.m apartment into a space where he, his partner, and their two kids can acknowledge their individuality, and soulfulness to coexist with beauty.

The design started with a simple thought of perceiving the interior as an abstract painting; with the space as the ‘canvas’, ‘under painted’ with subtle earth-toned walls, accentuated by thick ‘impasto’ specks of pastel-toned paintings and furniture, with linear ‘strokes’ of brass accents and profiles. The colours are beautifully held together by calming whites that restore balance.

The entryway leads to a bright and inviting living room, featuring pale lime walls and marble flooring that creates a warm and comforting atmosphere. The beech wood panels and brass accents add a touch of sophistication, complementing the pale lime backdrop to create a sense of liveability. The warm hues foster a feeling of compassion which was inspired by the post-modern colour palette.

We kept the walls, and ceilings inconspicuous, while furniture, paintings, and other décor were designed to pop out the canvas, like strokes of a pallet knife. Wall art and paintings were custom-made to complement the character of the interior spaces.

The kitchen showcases a simple and alluring material palette, with copper-finished laminate cabinets and black marble countertops that offer a sleek and modern look.

The bedrooms offer a tranquil escape from the daily grind, with white paint, a feature wall of painted plywood and beech wood accents, and wooden patterned flooring. The warm lighting creates a relaxing atmosphere, making the bedrooms a peaceful retreat.
